Today we'll take a look at an open and blank canvas completely transformed by LTAB LAB Studio. Giving a voice to the needs and wishes of the clients, they eschew the standardised and generic, to create custom interiors that fit like a made-to-measure dress.

Characterised by strong, rational lines and an infusion of bold colours and textures, this interior is bright and cheery. The three room apartment was deep and dark, but the carefully designed lighting plan works together with the crisp white and bright accents to liven it up. Let's take a look…

'Before'

Here's the blank canvas we mentioned: it's not a bad base to work with, just a little bland and bare.

The diagonal timber floor and clean spaces give great promise. But it's the result that we're really after, so enough with the 'before'… let's see the 'after'!

'After'

The result is simple, yet fun. The open space has been turned into a connected social heart that achieves a certain degree of separation. The kitchen is delimited by the island that juts out from the wall, separating it from the living area. The dining table is anchored by two pendant lights, and the living area by a plush floor rug.

Take a look at division and connection in the home if you're after more ideas to help you achieve a balance and relationship between these two seemingly disparate qualities.

A minimal kitchen

The kitchen cabinetry is oh-so-minimal: white surfaces without a handle in sight. A strip light is concealed within the high-level cabinets and lights up the workspace functionally and beautifully. Apple green accents emerge in the floor mat and are continued throughout the interior.

You'll find plenty more kitchen ideas here!

The accent of choice: Apple green

The green apple hue is sprinkled throughout the space, coalescing in the feature panels adjacent the kitchen. The artwork brings together all of the colours used in the interior: apple green, white, and various grey hues.

The best part is they can be swapped out—you may have noticed they are different here that they don a different pattern here than they did in the first kitchen shot—allowing the residents to completely transform the atmosphere.

The living area

Here, we get a tiny slither of the inbuilt television console that resembles the white and rational structure of the kitchen cabinetry.

The sheer curtains sweep down to form a veil of privacy without completely blocking out the natural light.

We hope you enjoyed your tour through this wonderful before and after. And if you still want more—fear not—we have another one for you: The conversion of an old barn into a beautiful home.
