1. Colour scheme and shelving system

Choose a suitable colour scheme that feels tranquil yet helps to maintain the brightness of the interior. You could install ceramic or porcelain tiles to improve the appearance of your small bathroom. Glass or mosaic tiles have a glamourising effect on the interiors as well.

Take care to select the right shelving system. Recessed shelving is very useful for small bathrooms. They are functional and do not tend to eat up any space at all. Floating shelves, particularly the transparent variety, look elegant as well.

2. Give an airy feel

It is not as difficult as you might think. Improve the ventilation of the space, and install a vent or exhaust fan. Choose the one with correct strength for your bathroom and keep the interior free of moisture, mould and mildew.

If possible, build windows or skylights. It will allow an inflow of natural light and air. With these options in place, your bathroom will no longer feel as stuffy as before.

3. Large mirror

Mirrors can make your bathroom look more spacious. Large, frameless mirrors look stunning in a contemporary setting.

To maximise the storage space, you can invest in mirrors with hidden medicine cabinet. Install wall sconces beside the mirror or linear pendants on top of it to increase the cheery feel of the interior.

4. Decorative pieces

Do not ignore the wall décor. Even a small bathroom can be decorated with framed images and potted plants Place a few candles and a vase full of fresh flowers on top of the vanity unit. You may place small sculptures on the topmost shelf or a water resistant decorative feature in the corner of your bathtub.

Consider using a curious looking log as a stool or tiny table. Keep a pouch full of fragrant herbs on the shelves and inside the cabinets. They will keep the atmosphere fresh for a long time.

5. Shower room design

Give special attention to the shower room design. Choose tiles that are slightly different in colour or shape from the rest of the space. Alternatively, install flooring that is suitable for the shower room, but is different from the other parts of your small bathroom.

Some of the worthy examples are river pebble tiles, engineered wood flooring, natural stone and so on. The same can be used to decorate the walls as well. When space crunch poses a problem, hang shower curtains instead of building shower section with glass doors.

Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Use your tiny bathroom to pamper and rejuvenate yourself.
