When we think they possibly couldn't out-do themselves, the team at ALTS DESIGN OFFICE—guess what—out-do themselves again!

Each and every one of their homes is incredibly unique and breathtakingly beautiful. In accordance with their signature approach, the exterior is simple and understated, giving very little clue as to what the interior holds in store; raw materials, richly coloured timbers, bespoke furniture, and innovative spatial formations. They are a talented bunch and this home is yet another example of their incredible design finesse! Let's take a look…

Minimal exterior

Here's that simple, understated exterior. A white box with a few rectangular openings and a timber portico structure—that's it!

The rational and minimal form is a charming contemporary expression of living, just the way the architects intended. But, wait until you see the interior…

Raw materials and a skeletal kitchen!

It's absolutely stunning! It retains the rational clean lines we saw on the exterior, but a rich material palette invades the interior! The white walls are held together with a raw concrete floor and beautiful exposed timber ceiling.

The open plan spaces are eloquently connected. Here, the skeletal industrial kitchen—stripped back to the bare necessities—is perfectly connected to the dining space and the exterior.

A cube within the cube

A white cube in the centre of the space encloses the more private zones of the home, while the free-flowing outer ring locates the social spaces.

The steel stair leads up to a split level mezzanine; the top of the white cube forms a sunken recess that is hemmed in by the higher level floor. The difference in height between the two opens up a gap that creates strong connections between the lower level and the upper level.

Recessed living

Here it is, as viewed from the upper level. A cozy, carpeted living space is wrapped with timber walkways. A stone wall element is introduced at this level, providing an abundance of texture and rich earthy colours.

They have crafted such a delightful space, with some bold and interesting design moves! Their talented architects have a way with space that is second to none!

The bedroom

The bedroom is simple, but the structure is left bare in all its timber glory! A small window opens the room up to the rest of the interior.

The bathroom

We're about to end our saunter through the dreamy spaces of this home, but before we do, let's take a look at one more: the bathroom! As equally minimal as the last, but this time in the all-white sort of way. The feature vanity, finished in black, adds a bold and interesting touch to the simple space.
