In many cities around the world, the cost of property – especially in city centre locations – has increased in recent years thanks to large growth and development leading to limited space at higher cost. For many people, new suitable living solutions are required to accommodate budget and location necessities.
With this in mind, today we’re touring an intriguing little apartment by the architects at Minbai. This eighteen square metre property may make you rethink how much space you really need…
Immediately upon entering the apartment, we come to the living room space. The room’s décor follows simple, modern design - white walls and lightly coloured laminate flooring. The light colours help the room to feel more spacious, while the large glass balcony doors ensure the room gets plenty of natural light.
The wall-mounted television and coffee table—pushed up against the wall—help to increase the available space. It may be cosy, but there’s still space enough to relax!
As we can see here the sofa converts to a bed! And here in lies the ingenuity that makes this apartment possible.
Surveying the room from this angle we can also see the abundance of wall-mounted storage that frames the bed; a brilliant way to increase space in a small room!
Turning immediately to the right brings the desk into view. This handy, wall-mounted accessory ensures a convenient place to work while utilising otherwise wasted area between the sofa/bed and the wall.
The chair accompanying the desk also conveniently folds away if the space is required for something else.
The kitchen – condensed into a nook – is undeniably small, but still complete with all the necessary amenities!
The use of wall-mounted storage creates extra space and allows the sink, cooker and microwave to be stored in one little space.
Evidently the bathroom is not huge, but given the overall space available in the apartment it feels surprisingly spacious!
As with the rest of the apartment, the bathroom follows a simple, modern design; here, taking the form of tiles and an attractive, spherical sink.
Surveying the apartment as a whole, it’s really amazing how much is packed into such a small space! This humble home truly is a masterpiece of space management.
