Scandinavian home design is so popular nowadays, and it's easy to see why. It is renowned for its simplicity, beauty, and advantageousness that shows through careful decoration and flawless craftsmanship. Scandinavian homes pride themselves on their use of light and earthy, muted tones, and they don't over-adorn their rooms.

This style has made its way through Europe, to the Americas, and all the way to the land of the rising sun, Japan. It's also easy to see why this simplistic style is popular in Japan, as they themselves admire uncomplicated decoration, and today, we will see such a home in the Ehime Prefecture.

The home builders at Yogo Homes are the ones responsible for the Scandinavian style home we are viewing. The use of natural materials, open space, and simple ornamentation made us fall in love with this home, and it might be hard for you not to do the same.

Soft-spoken exterior

Here is the rather plain, yet humbling façade of the home. It's located in a quiet neighbourhood and is soft-spoken in its presence.

The soft white walls and brick red roof remind us of the homes we would see in Scandinavia. The home feel open to us because of the lack of fencing and enclosed spaces. But just wait until we step inside the home. You're sure to feel right at home then!

Fine dining

We have a lovely dining setup here, and it's the details that make a Scandinavian style dining room come to life. Like the straight and rigid timber table and it's pairing with the curved chair set, not to mention it's contrast to the retro red chair in the background.

The adornments are kept to a minimum–one simple basket to hold some fruit, a couple pieces of tableware, and a pendant lamp are all this room needs. This simplicity keeps the emphasis on the good food that will be made and the good company that will be had.

Award-winning white kitchen

Several components create a this Scandinavian kitchen–the simple shelving, because the fewer and simpler, the more authentic, light wood tones, white walls and often appliances, and simple yet interesting shapes of the faucet and pendant. These add curves and downgraded visual appeal to the clean-lined space.

Beautiful tile

Now we have the bathroom, located on the second storey of the home. We love the amazing use of tiles here. We are big fans of tile trends here at homify, so when we saw these mosaic and stone tiles operating in perfect harmony with each other, we just had to pay homage. Not many designers can match these two colour styles and create a comforting and clean space, but Yogo Homes did.

The gazebo effect

We wanted to leave you off with our favourite part of the home–the gazebo-like pathway from interior to terrace. The half-hexagon shape bay window leads us directly into the dining room from the outside and makes us feel closer to nature. This home truly follows each aspect of Scandinavian design.
