Let's face it; we all have that fantasy of the perfect bedroom, and for a lot of us that dream room is the epitome of industrial design. We can't resist that airy feeling of waking up in a room that's chic, minimally decorated and beautifully styled. That elegant combination of minimalismmodernism and DIY is just the thing we look for. Industrial styles have grown in popularity in recent years, especially as old warehouses and industrial units are being converted into houses and apartments—but you don't need to live in a converted unit to get the look. You can easily follow the trend with our incredible collection of inspirations right here.

If you're willing to change a few things in order to achieve that perfect industrial look in your bedroom, then this is the article for you! A comprehensive breakdown of the elements that bring it all together can be incredibly helpful when designing your own room so homify have one of the best tips and tricks for you. So, here we go!

1. Sleek sliding wardrobe doors

Sliding doors are all the rage in industrial living spaces. They save space and look cool, too, so that even when your wardrobe is at its messiest, you can hide it away behind a sleek sliding door until the next time you venture  into the abyss of forgotten fabrics and odd socks (not that we have this problem… ).

2. Brick wall

One of the most striking characteristics of the industrial style is the exposed brick walls. Instead of plastering over them, simply leave them exposed or paint over them to create a rough but deliberate look for your bedroom. Bare bricks are also great for keeping your cool on those hot summer nights!

3. Contemporary book shelves

Stay modern with some contemporary bookshelves. Any industrial bedroom look needs a big, chunky book case to outline the room and create that professional industrial style design that makes us want to copy it so much!

4. Deep neutral colour scheme

Industrial style bedrooms (and any other rooms in the home) are usually made up of neutral tones and colours. They keep you grounded and cool, as they create a peaceful mood and look beautiful. So try mixing creams with pastels or pale beiges and browns, like in this bedroom; the throws, cushions and headboard are all different colours and yet still come together perfectly.

5. Geometric patterns

Geometric patterns are both stylish and fun. Often in industrial style bedrooms, the room would be decorated in plain neutrals and there would be a few things such as cushions that are patterned. In this bedroom, one wall is patterned in black and white. So for a striking bedroom with an industrial look, it really isn't that hard to achieve!

6. Chunky yet modern bed

For a bed that fits in perfectly with your industrial look, many people go for a chunky wooden bed that outlines the mattress—this gives it a very high-end look. It's best to use metal or wood as the material for the bed as they usually come in neutral colours that compliment the room and add to its industrial air.

7. Bare bulbs

Bare bulbs have that fashionable yet slightly mysterious sense of being unfinished; a relic in remembrance of the old warehouses and industrial units that industrial style homes once were. They are now very popular, affordable and available in many home stores. You simply attach them to the wiring on the ceiling and let it hang! (This also makes it way easier to change the light bulb… ).

8. Metal beds

As we've said before, metal and wooden beds are fantastic for the industrial look. Metal is easy to colour coordinate with but is also great if you aren't a fan of chunky furniture!

9. DIY pallet bed

Number nine in our little guide is DIY! This bedroom is an excellent example of using DIY to create your ultimate industrial look—pallets can be found almost anywhere, so why no upcycle? You can seal them together and place your mattress on top to make a beautiful industrial vibe.
