If all the luxury's of a 5-star hotel penthouse suite is your idea of a dream home, then this home in the London sky line is sure to pique your interest.  The London apartment was designed by the Interior team at The Manser Practice. The award winning practice has been around since the 1960's, with offices in London and Leeds. While they have worked extensively throughout the UK, they have also worked widely in Africa and on projects as far afield as China, the USA and Pakistan.

This modernist office block in the middle of London city had fallen into a state of neglect. The empty shell was purchased by Berkeley Homes in 2010 and The Manser Practice were commissioned to resign and refurbish the interior, transforming it into a contemporary state of the art residential development. This penthouse was envisioned as the quintessence of luxury apartment living; spacious and adorned with the most opulent of finishes. From the central corridor with marble panelling to the bespoke joinery that house the residents wine collection, no splendour is spared.

Open but discrete

The singular open plan space is divided into three distinct zones through variation in colour, materials and furniture placement. The grey floor rug anchors the lounge area to the slate fireplace feature; while the placement of artwork and the suspended light feature designate the dining 'room'.

A roof terrace to remember

The long linear plan places the bedrooms along one side of the open plan living area, with this vast roof terrace to the other side. Providing the perfect place for entertaining, an outdoor kitchen, large dining table and lounge seating might make it difficult to get your guests to ever leave. The sleek, edge-lit canopy, provides protection from the elements whilst retaining the feeling that the space is completely open to the air.

A sleek and contemporary kitchen

But, of course, there's an indoor kitchen too! When the temperature drops and alfresco cooking looses it's appeal, this sleek, well-equipped and open plan kitchen provides a pretty wonderful alternative. The large island provides plenty of work space without truncating the space. The bar seating allows the cooking experience to become a social activity, providing another dining space for a more informal breakfast, lunch or, even, dinner. The dining area

The dramatic light feature over the formal dining table creates a visual focus in the room, berthing this social space of eating and conversation. The dining area finds perfect connection to both the kitchen and the more informal lounge, positioned around the slate fire place.

Bathroom beauty

The bathroom possesses a contemporary charm. Dark tiles and grand marble features are offset with light mosaics. The juxtaposition of contrasting colours and proportions create a unique bathroom finish. And, what a magnificent amount of light this bathroom receives. The optimum use of space and light in a room which is so easily forgotten, shows a thoroughness in the design. A simple touch of green brings these refined features to the fore, while injecting the room with a touch of nature. It is definitely a space worthy of preparing you to enter each new day.

Plush finishes

The bedroom is a sumptuous space, once again making use of the generous amount of light afforded to the penthouse apartment. However, the quality of light in the room can be easily controlled with the floor to ceiling curtains. The patterned feature wall, headboard and the more subtle, but intriguing, light shades extend the plush finishes of the home into this small space of retreat.
