The vast majority of modern homes opt for simple décor: pure lines and neutral colours. White is almost always present and often dominates our spaces. So the dwellings are pleasant, read simply and do not tire those who inhabit them.

But know that there are cases of homes decorated with strong tones that work quite well. It is a risk to run, as you will probably need a good interior architect, but it is possible. And to show you exactly how it's achievable, we have an incredible example of it to show you today. This beautiful home comes to us courtesy of design studio DontDIY.

So come take a look. You may be pleasantly surprised.

The living room

Let's start with the living room, one of the most colorful spaces in this house. The result is in sight, a modern, comfortable space with simple and original furniture such as a chair, small tables and lamps, and lots of colour. From the window we can see a large patch of vegetation, which seems to enter the house and enhance the soft mustard and yellow-green colour of the sofa and carpet. This room looks very comfortable and it is proven that the colour gives it a lot of life.

The kitchen

Surprising, do not you think? Here, a large window shows us the greenery and the foliage on the outside of the home. The floor and the table are in brilliant warm wood, but all the other cupboards are white, making it neutral enough to have some colourful elements that stand out, as is the case with the green chairs and the big living green closet.

Original cabinetry

This kitchen cabinet is really the most original piece of this project. It starts with a low height but reaches the kitchen ceiling, with several compartments of all shapes and sizes whose volume forms like a staircase. It is exactly in the kitchen that we usually have problems of space for storage and organisation, whether for the dishes or the food, this very modern element solves this problem. A great inspiration to any eclectic homeowners out there.

Relaxation zone

Now here is a good idea! For spaces that have a lower or sloping ceiling, create a small space inspired by a Japanese living room with some cushions and small tables if you create the necessary comfort for a good relaxation zone.

Shower room

In the bathroom, neutral tones dominate, creating a modern space where nothing is missing.

Casual dining space

The dining space is dominated by the elegant table we saw earlier, but the way it is illuminated is also very modern and works quite well to brighten up an area like this. The wall in the background has a rustic air that brings some down-to-earth personality to this modern space.

The guest bath

Even when there is no space for a large window, the green from the outside garden ends up being seen and almost part of the composition of the space.

Note that even the slippers match the home's colour scheme.

The bedroom

The bedroom is simple and nice, and again we have a white painted brick wall with rustic texture that contrasts with the plain and simple furniture. The combination of textures and calming tones creates very cosy and comfortable space.

Coming full circle

Do you remember how we started this article? Now we go back to the living room. As you can see, each compartment relates, in one way or another, with the decor we see in the room. However, each one has its own identity and the use of colour is quite balanced by the different space of the house. This home is also a fantastic example of how to decorate a small space to make it seem larger.

If you liked the colour in this home, you'll love taking the colourful accents of this family home!

After seeing how wonderfully colour was integrated into this space, do you have any ideas on how you'd like to jazz up your interior? We'd love to ...
