1. Excessively large sofas

The sofa is undoubtedly one of those elements that is loved by us all, mainly due to the flexibility and comfort that it offers. But sometimes, we make the mistake of placing excessively large sofas without considering the actual size of the room, thus making the living room look even more cramped.

Advice: If the room is small, you can aim for a combination sofa chairs or sofa ottomans, this will be less bulky than a single large sofa and easier to move depending on the different needs of the moment.

We all love to customize our homes according to our preferences. But sometimes, in an effort to leave our footprint, we run the risk of overfilling the room with furniture and accessories that can create confusion and make the space appear smaller.

Advice: We are not suggesting to eliminate furniture, however, by taking everyone's needs and desires into account, you can bring in only that type furniture that looks good as well as pleases everyone.

3. Neglecting bathroom designs

Bathrooms designs, though getting popular by the day, still remain a largely neglected subject. Although it is a space that we do not spend a lot of time in, it is one of those spaces that we step into at beginning of our day and hence has a very important role in our lives, more subconsciously than consciously.

Advice: We recommend that you study the basics of color combination. This way, you can opt for tiles, fabrics, towels, etc. having shades that belong to the same family and give the bathroom space a coherent look.

4. Outdated upholstery

Sometimes, even the most precious of furniture can lose its charm by having upholstery of cheap quality or outdated design.

Advice: Investing in high-end upholstery is always a good idea and does more good to the overall ambiance as well as protects the furniture in the long run. Make sure that you visit multiple shops as well as do a good online research to be updated about the latest trends and designs.

5. Not planning adequate storage space

This is one of the most common mistakes that most of us are guilty of. More than anywhere else, the results of inadequate planning are most apparent in the kitchen. Not only does it lead to an unpleasant kitchen experience but it also puts on us the burden of buying new storage furniture that might not fit in comfortably due to a lack of space.

Advice: Choose your architect wisely, extracting the most out of small spaces requires experience and skill. If left to an inexperienced consultant, you might very soon end up having a kitchen that looks like the one in this example.

6. Not having a proper layout

Often in the haste of moving in quickly, we tend to position the furniture units without giving a lot of thought to their optimum positioning.

Advice: Always make sure you have a room layout that is drafted by your developer. This layout will give you a far precise idea of how a furniture unit might look and more importantly how it will fit inside the available space.

7. Unnecessary furniture

Being able to have lunch in the kitchen is a convenience, but sometimes a large table like the one in this example is likely to cause inconvenience than making life easier.
