Our today's design book presents a lovely duplex apartment from Poland designed by our experts at Saje architekci Joanna Morkowska-Saj. The apartment features an open plan living space and one bedroom on the ground floor while the other one is positioned on the floor above. The entire apartment utilizes a fairly restrained color palette with some bold color infusions mainly in the dining space and under the staircase. Apart from the color and material palette, the architects have also been particularly conscious about the quality of natural light as well as illumination through artificial light fixtures.

Let's move ahead and take a look at few of the visuals of the house.

The floor plan

Let's start with the floor plan of the house. Right on entering the house, we can see the staircase that leads us to the first floor. Moving ahead we have the bedroom on the left-hand side while the powder room is on the right side. The living room and the kitchen further are designed to be a part of an open plan combined space.

The entrance

As seen in the plan, the staircase to the first floor is positioned right at the entrance. The space below the staircase is covered by neat wooden paneling and is provided with inbuilt niches to display books or other artifacts.

The dining space

The dining space is positioned such that it is near the kitchen as well as the television set. Further, by installing the table near the main windows, the architects have ensured that the dining space receives ample amounts of natural light throughout the year. The table itself is a simple yet artistic wooden unit and is provided with five chairs having different shades of blue.

The feature wall

The main living room wall which has the television set installed on it is provided with an exposed brick finish having a thin coating of lime. Further, the wooden paneling which begins below the staircase at the entrance continues on to this wall to give the entire space a nice homogenous look.

The large windows

The entire living room benefits greatly from the two large windows that draw in ample amounts of natural light. The predominantly white finish of the walls further assist in reflecting the natural light which gives the space a larger than actual feel.

The lounge space

The solid gray sofa is positioned in such a way that it faces the main display wall that has the television set installed on it. Behind the sofa, the architects have installed a neat wall mounted shelf that is similar to the shelves below the staircase at the entrance.

The bedroom

The bedroom is provided with a large comfortable bed and a sleek wallpaper behind it. Similar to the living room, the large window that is covered with the full height curtain draws in plenty of natural light, a feature that leads to a cheerful and pleasing ambiance in the space.

The washbasin

The basin is installed on a neatly designed wooden counter and is also provided with a large mirror that spans the entire wall. The large counter provides decent space for placing the small towels as well as other essential toiletries. Further, we also loved the artistic conical ceiling lights that add a beautiful dimension to the enitre space.

The shower space

The shower space is positioned near the washbasin and is enclosed with a neat transparent shower cubicle. To make the space even more interesting, the architects have installed an artistic wall graphic beside the cubicle that resembles a book shelf.

The kitchen

The kitchen as we explained before is a part of the open plan layout. In spite of it being a space without dedicated boundaries, the kitchen provides its users with excellent storage as well as cooking space thanks to its neat L-shaped layout. Apart from its functional aspect, we also loved the sleek glossy wall tiles that add a different visual dimension to the entire space.
