There are lots of ways to decorate a space, but when it comes down to it, many interiors fall along similar lines. They are grounded in neutral tones and utilise a similar range of materials. Today on homify360, however, we will be exploring a truly unique interior space where bold colours and bright features reign supreme. Designed with the style of ‘pop art’ in mind, designer Natalya Medvedev and her associates came up with this extraordinary apartment in Russia.

In addition to giving it an added dose of flashy style, the design team significantly renovated the structure of the apartment as well. For one, they knocked down the wall between the living room and kitchen to make better use of space through an open plan layout. The new apartment was also outfitted with an enlarged bathroom. The home is largely configured of granite, glass, and wood, but perhaps never as you’ve seen them used in living quarters before. We hope you come with us on a tour of this original home that truly pushes the boundaries of interior design.

Pop-art in the living room

The living room contains blues, purples, and greens though this time these striking colour are interspersed with black. The bright green sofa certainly catches the eye and the 60s inspired rug certainly adds to the pop-art theme. On the back wall there is a large mural of the New York City skyline. The black TV stand conveniently includes shelves for housing DVDs and auxiliary electronic devices. The inclusion of mirrors along one wall causes the room to appear doubled in size.

The boldest of bedrooms

Just as pop-art style dictates, this bedroom is don’t in simple materials expressed in bright colours. The colour scheme is most bold in the bedroom where electric blues and greens stretch up the walls. This paneling is made of one of a kind mosaic glass. The soft purple bedspread adds a more feminine touch to the look. As we will see, these colours extend throughout the house, though in other areas they are toned down. The bedroom makes the strongest statement by way of colouring.

Rectangular composition under an LED glow

Shifting our orientation to the other side of the room it takes on an entirely more mellow hue where purple shades prevail. The TV mount adds a geometric effect to the room. In fact, the bedroom is largely comprised of rectangular elements, from the bed, to the blinds to the bookcase, and the television these shapes form the master bedroom. The shelf adds a practical touch, as it is large enough to fit a multitude of personal items. The LED lights overhead illuminate the room in a unique way.

Sleek and modern kitchen

When we turn around we see a kitchen and dining area situated at the other side of the room. The kitchen fronts reflect like mirror to enhance the sense of spaciousness and to mask the bulk of the cabinets themselves. The round dining room table and chairs are groovy and futuristic. As we have seen, the colour scheme gradually scales from bright blues, purples and greens in the bedroom to sleek black and white in the kitchen.

Dynamic bathroom

The bathroom in this 67 sqm. apartment was enlarged during renovation. The wallpaper gives the walls a dynamic texture under the LED light. The black sink and faucet brings an element of modern style. The decision to leave the portion of the bathroom where the shelves are white increases the perceived amount of space in the room while simultaneously downplaying the appearance of the toiletries on the shelves.
