Renovating an old house could be tricky. You often don’t know which part of the old building to retain, which part to demolish and how to reorganise the interior space. During these times, an expert architect can come to your aid. You get to know how to manage the entire project within your budget and still achieve surprising results from your efforts of renovation. The remodelling of the Shatin house leaves us with many design and décor inspirations. Let’s enter into the building and find out what are these.

Stylish façade of a contemporary house

From the outside, the house exemplifies contemporary architecture. You see extensive use of straight lines, a reduced colour palette and large glass windows offering generous views of the inside. The front yard is partly covered with gravel. The flooring of the porch is made of wood.

The house occupies a pretty spot of Shatin, eastern Hong Kong. It is located on an elevated spot. The house occupies a plot of an old residential dwelling which stood on this ground for over four decades. The old 1800 sq feet house was demolished to give way to this brand new residence.

Inspiring living room design

The luxurious décor of the open plan living room leaves everyone breathless. The spacious room receives a generous amount of sunlight in the day time. In the evening it is illuminated with chic lighting fixtures. You also see an extensive use of white and soft grey tones. The sectional sofa, also in pale grey tone, occupies the focal point of the room. Large wall mounted tv cabinet stores away the household items. Stone panelled walls are decorated with mirrors and modern wall hangings.

Kitchen and dining parlour

The kitchen is an epitome of simple design. Except for the central kitchen island you see a reasonably spacious dining table with chairs and a bench with storage space. The contrast between the slate grey tone of the kitchen island and shiny white of the dining furniture looks stunning.

Dreamy bedroom décor

As seen on the first floor level of the building, the spacious bedroom follows the minimalist décor principles. The generous use of white colour and grey stone walls is balanced with warm wood flooring. Except for the bed and wall mounted bedside cabinets, you can also see a hanging bubble chair to sit for a brief while before going to the bed.

The bedroom is designed with a private terrace. Sitting on the lightweight outdoor chairs, the owners can admire the beauty of the surroundings for hours. The chic wooden deck looks charming.

Dressing room

It will be unpardonable not to show you a glimpse of this contemporary dressing room. It boasts of sufficient space and storage area. Lightweight furniture makes it look all the more spacious and chic. Ceiling mounted lighting fixtures drowns the space in cheery white light.

Spa style bathroom

The Shatin house is designed with an elegant spa style bathroom. Like other parts of the building it also boasts of generosity of space. The team of designers at The Millimeter Interior Design Ltd made an optimal use of 3850 sq feet living space of the current building. The His And Hers bathroom is fitted with separate wash basins and a bathtubs. The bathroom cabinets are mounted on the wall which means the floor space remains unspoilt.

Home office

The home office occupies the landing of the stairway and is separated from the staircase by a glass partition. Tables and cabinets mounted on the wall take care of any storage related concerns. Except for these, a simple office chair occupies the space.

Futuristic garage design

The futuristic garage is decorated with metallic flooring and shimmering grey interior. It is spacious enough to accommodate two cars. Frosted glass panels and mirrors mounted on the rear side of the garage make the interior look brighter and more spacious.

If you are an admirer of modern design, you will find the interior of this house particularly noteworthy.
