It’s very easy to be brainwashed into thinking that only a large house can offer all the space that we actually need. However, one glimpse at these homes we’ve selected for you today and all those beliefs will go flying out the window!

Architects have been seriously stepping up their game in terms of designing quaint yet clever and comfortable small homes that have the ability to outshine even the largest of mansions in terms of style and charm, and every one of these selections prove it…

1. How charming!

Even we didn’t believe that this house, upon seeing it from outside, offered adequate space and style. The white and grey detailing looks as pretty as a picture and with traditional door and window guards in place, there is more to this small home than meets the eye!

Stepping inside, we see for ourselves how wonderfully cosy, comfortable and fresh the interiors have been made, fabulously making use of every bit of available space and sprinkling in enough stylish touches to make it feel far bigger than it actually is.

2. What a vision!

Isn't this home super fabulous? So unusual and creative, the architects here were clearly making an attempt to get as much bang for their clients' buck as possible and the result is a terrifically exotic and intriguing building that has a sunny and inviting ambience.

We don't think you'll be at all shocked to discover that the interior in this home is just as wonderful and unusual as the exterior! Exceptional furniture, stunning colours and brilliant wall shelves all come together to create an eclectic space that works wonderfully.

3. What lies behind those walls?

From the street, this small home is something of an enigma! Who lives here, how big does it feel inside and is it a continuation of the white and minimalist look that the façade is showcasing?

Nobody quite expected this! Built around a central courtyard, this small home is all about the connection to the garden, with floor-to-ceiling glazing making the house feel gargantuan in size, even though technically it isn't.

4. Perfectly prefabricated

The textured nature of this prefabricated home is brilliant in terms of diverting attention from the assumed size of the house itself. Seemingly simple and almost a little industrial, it will be interesting to see how this contemporary styling translates to the interior.

Inside we discover a studio home, finished in white and pale natural wood, flaunting a distinctly Scandinavian vibe. And what a sweet little kitchen awaits us just around that corner.

See what a soft and neutral colour palette can accomplish?

5. Something basic

Our last discovery offers up a natural and understated charm, even treating us to a little outdoor dining space! Simple plaster and wood cladding are a great combination, ensuring a beautifully organic façade which we bet has been carried through into the interior.

Thanks to subtle furnishings and popping colours, the interiors are as remarkable and fresh as we predicted. And here it is, a picture that proves that old saying: less really is more!
