When it comes to choosing bathroom storage ideas, professional bathroom designers really have a task on their hands. Of course, there are a huge number of diverse styles and solutions to choose from, but getting  the right proportions, functionality and finished aesthetic is a tricky endeavour and definitely best left to the pros, which is why we've put together this handy guide that will serve as a first point of inspiration, which can be used to help hone in on the absolutely right choice for a specific bathroom project.

From small bathroom storage ideas that will work in very modest homes through to more innovative, eye-catching and clever bathroom storage ideas, there's something for everyone in this guide and we're going to highlight a few of our personal favourite styles. It's been a long time since simple wall cabinets were the only solution, as these pictures will prove beyond any doubt!

Bathroom storage ideas: Scandinavian

The wonderful thing about any Scandinavian interior design touches is that they add a lot of natural warmth, style and sophistication to a space, all of which can be demonstrably lacking in a bathroom. Given how clean and fresh the room needs to feel, it is so easy to fall into the trap of all-white-everything, which can lead to a sterile, though practical finish, but by following a more Scandi route, instant home spa vibes can be enjoyed, without negating on storage at all!

Matching wooden storage units create a beautifully cohesive look and can accommodate all manner of different items, from toiletries through to spare towels and everything in between, so a wooden vanity with a complementary tallboy cabinet could be the perfect bathroom storage solution.

Bathroom storage ideas: Hidden

Bathroom wall storage ideas might come in all shapes, styles and sizes, but that doesn't mean that everybody actually wants their organisational furniture out on display! For a sleeker, more self-contained and intrinsically neater bathroom finish, a lot of homeowners are now choosing stealthy and more concealed options.

Cheap bathroom storage ideas and well concealed solutions might not sound as though they'll go hand in hand, but it really can be as easy as installing simple wall cabinets and using mirrored doors, to create a built-in and beautiful finish. Add numerous shelves inside and absolutely everything can be stowed away, out of sight. Perfect.

Bathroom storage ideas: Traditional with a twist

For older or more heritage homes, traditional bathroom cupboards are absolutely the way to go, but they don't have to be boring, as this amazing project demonstrates! Add some piquant colour to the cabinets and suddenly, there is a modern meets traditional aesthetic in place and a few contemporary inset bathroom shelves really finish the look.

Custom carpentry would be the ideal way to get a stunning finish, without negating on all the necessary storage capabilities, especially if curved edges and clever solutions are on the wish list. What we particularly like about this design is that the vanity area has become a natural focal point in the room and added in a perfect dose of accent colour that cheers up an otherwise very white space.

Bathroom storage ideas: Minimal

Minimal bathroom storage ideas have come a long way and now, can be every inch as striking and dramatic as more complex designs, without looking fussy or over the top. Perfect for either a small bathroom or a far bigger space, a sleek rectangular cabinet, stowed underneath the sink area, looks neat, organised and above all else, very fashionable and allows for more exciting elements, such as shower tiles, to really stand out.

It's important to remember that minimal designs are not the same as boring. They simply allow for a more orderly and unobtrusive finish that maintains clean lines that have been installed elsewhere in a room.

Bathroom storage ideas: Floating

Bathroom cabinets, by the way that they are installed, are naturally 'floating' and this can be supported by ensuring that suite items are mounted in a similar way. A great way to tap into a more contemporary finish, keeping bathroom wall cabinets, sinks and toilets wall-mounted means that a sense of more floor space will be created, which makes this a perfect idea for more modest bathrooms.

Floating bathroom storage offers an extra bonus too, in the shape of making cabinets perform double-duty as shelving too. The area on top of cabinets can be used as easy access storage space for things such as clean folded towels and this allows for accent colours to be introduced in a non-permanent way.

Bathroom storage ideas: Industrial

It's no secret that cast concrete is BIG news in interior design circles right now and whole cast kitchen counters and islands are a little more commonplace, bathroom vanity units can follow suit as well. Sometimes, clever storage ideas are born out of the simplest solutions and here, we see a one-piece cast concrete vanity unit that offers a wealth of fabulous storage space, without the need for bulky doors or fussy finishes and it looks incredible.

With space enough for dual sinks and a vast open shelving area underneath, this concrete vanity manages to house all the necessary toiletries and accessories, but maintains a very understated and industrial aesthetic. Plus, we all know that grey is a popular interior colour right no, so this is a perfectly on-trend idea.

Bathroom storage ideas: Rustic

Rustic bathrooms always seem to tap into that perfect mix of practical and pretty and the storage solutions contained within them are definitively beautiful too, as they tend to be on the simpler side. It makes sense,as stripped brick walls and gorgeous flooring don't want to be overshadowed by cumbersome or starkly modern cabinets, which is why a series of pared back wall hooks, wooden ladder shelves and exposed heated towel rails all work so well.

For rustic bathrooms with a freestanding tub, as seen here, traditional touches such as bath caddies or even floor-mounted toiletry stands look absolutely perfect and ensure that there's a place for everything, without looking crowded or at odds with the more old fashioned styling.
