Building your home or renovating it, it’s the most exhilarating phase of any normal human life. It’s a dream project where we look for the best within our limit. Isn’t it? But between the limitation of space and budget, the design of the home should also be planned keeping in mind the future life of the family in that home. The beauty and comfort of the home depends on the functionality of each and every room of the home. That includes the bathroom.

Once upon a time there were homes where bathroom was built outside or away from the home. But in today’s modern world bathroom has entered our home and has become a part of the bedrooms too. So the design of the bathroom too needs planning and proper execution of the plans. Bathroom has to be beautiful, carefully located with efficient use of space available and made to serve multiple users. So before you start the job, check out these common errors in bathrooms which if not given heed will create problems in long run. Bathroom big or small has to be designed up to near perfection since this is the room which everyone uses to freshen up. Today we have come up with a list of 5 common mistakes which we should avoid while making the bathroom. Have a look!

1. Hidden from the direct view

Believe it or not; no matter how beautiful the bathroom is, we don’t want a direct view of it from living or dining room. Though in today’s home it is common to have a common toilet in the social space of the home, but it shouldn’t be in direct view of the people you invited for coffee or dinner. If there is no way to change the location of the bathroom, you can always change the direction of the door. Be smart and create some sort of obstruction that will block the view.

2. Bathroom is not just a toilet

Taking about direct view, now we will talk about another common mistake in bathroom. Imagine walking into a bathroom where the first thing you see or have to cross is the toilet. Isn’t it repulsive? Avoid it! Make a place for the sink first and push the toilet and shower to the other end. This will also increase the functionality of the bathroom when one can get ready near the sink while other is taking the bath.

3. Soaked up in fresh energy

A dark and damp, poorly ventilated bathroom feels depressing instead of refreshing space which we use to freshen up. Locate your bathroom in such a way that it is placed in outside wall and a window can be cut out to join it with outdoor. If there is not enough space for window, you can opt for skylight to bring in fresh air and sunlight in.

4. Smooth floor beneath

Curbed bathroom with no change in floor height makes the bathroom look bigger and is easy to clean. Also if you have senior citizens or person with special need at home, it becomes quite convenient for them to use it. Just make sure that the slope of the floor is in the right direction so that water clears up without getting stagnated.

5. Style without compromising with the functionality

When it comes to home design functionality and comfort rates higher than great look. Size will not be an issue if the space is utilized judiciously to create a comfortable place even if it is a small bathroom squeezed in to add an extra bathroom to meet the requirements of your growing family. The main concern should be comfort and convenience. And if with your creativity and smart thinking you can make the bathroom beautiful then it will be an added advantage.
