While the old ideal of a house in the suburbs with a white picket fence is a bit outdated, it’s interesting to ponder what’s taken its place. Architectural styles have diversified and welcomed more unique residential spaces. Still, living in a neighbourhood can help foster an important sense of community. The proximity to nature as compared to cities is another reason why the suburbs can feel enticing. Residential areas are typically regarded as better for raising a family, too.

Fortunately, designers are actually creating homes that are much more vibrant than those cookie cutter tracks of housing associated with decades past, while also working with some of the benefits of living in leafy surrounds amidst a closely-knit community. Today on homify360 we will be exploring one such example of this. A home by AliceMartins Flávio Butti is certainly a chicer and more revived version of what one might imagine when they visualise a suburban home. Yet it helps us to recall the unparalleled benefits of living in tandem with nature and with each other.

Sensual dining room

This large dining space is perfect for entertaining, and not only because the table is large. The textured rug, contemporary light fixture, deep red feature wall and lush green outdoors bring a lot of visual stimulation to the room. The look is well balanced and dynamic. After dinner, guests can hang out in the seating area by the window.

Modern kitchen

The kitchen is modern and chic. With this being said, there are some traditional Brazilian elements at play here as well, such as the clay oven in the background. The dark brown colouring pairs nicely with the red feature wall, and the clerestory windows harness and distribute natural light throughout.

Bathroom with rustic Asian influences

The wallpaper in the bathroom reminds us very much of a traditional Japanese painting of a koi pond in terms of colour. Meanwhile, the bathroom counter is rustic, and it brings a sense of warmth to the look. The contemporary style washbasin and black toilet are unique variations on conventional bathroom style.

Spacious bathing area

In addition to the bathroom we just saw, the home has a larger bathing area facing the backyard that’s surrounded by windows. This set up creates a relaxing bathing experience amidst outdoor scenery. The inclusion of bathroom furniture here also gives the space a more luxurious and trendy feel. In particular, we love these movable stools at the centre of the room.

Outdoor immersion in the conservatory

After examining that gorgeous bathroom, prepare to get even more deeply immersed in nature. The design team did an excellent job of incorporating views of the outdoors into the interior design through expertly placed windows. Here we can see a rustic-contemporary conservatory complete with rocking chairs and a fireplace. This spot is cosy and perfect for enjoying just about any kind of weather—it feels like you're sitting in the open air.

Well appointed pool and patio area

While we’ve seen the way the surrounding landscape plays a role in the interior design, it’s time to step out into the outdoors through the large bespoke sliding doors of the dining room. There is a raw wooden patio surrounded by rich foliage. The pool reflects some of the green to create a beautiful hue in the water, and a calming courtyard of tranquility for the residents of this home.
