In a couple of years’ time, purist tradition in art, architecture and design will be celebrating its centenary. The movement that was led by Le Corbusier and Amédée Ozenfant is still alive and thriving in modern homes. It began as a natural progression of cubism. The famous architect and artist duo also published a set of rules to be followed by the proponents of this art movement, which came to be known as The Purist Manifesto.

The dream villa that you are going to read about today can be considered a contemporary version of purist architecture. It is set in the backdrop of Jura Mountain, whose gracious presence adds another dimension to an already beautiful setting. Join us as we begin our survey of its many nooks and corners.

Overview

This detached family house is designed by Biberist based architect and founder of Unica Architektur AG, Corrado Palermo. He boasts a wealth of experience and, with the help of his small team, has already managed to complete a number of wildly successful projects.

The generously sized family home has been built using premium quality material. The décor is unfussy yet built to modern standards.

Living room

The living room is stylised with white walls and ceiling. A contemporary dark grey sofa, shiny white coffee table and simple tv cabinet decorate this space.

Wall mounted book shelves occupy the wall behind the couch. The warmth of the parquet flooring has an undeniable charm and increases the amiable nature of the interior.

Kitchen

The spacious kitchen is decorated according to the tastes of a modern householder. It shows an interplay between the shades of white and grey, which is interrupted by wood flooring.

Ceiling mounted recessed lighting keeps the space bright and cheerful. A glimpse of the floating staircase, also built of solid oak, can be obtained from this vantage point.

Dining room

The dining room occupies a small portion of this open plan kitchen and lounge area. Except for a simple dining table, a set of matching chairs and linear suspension this area boasts no other decorative features. However, the charming views of the swimming pool complex and garden act as a beautifying element.

Stylish spa bathroom

The relaxed bathroom is decorated to modern standards. It can easily qualify as a spa lover’s delight. A spacious terrace can be accessed from this space.

Large windows ensure excellent views of the outdoors. Contrary to the other parts of the building, it is steeped in the shades of dark brown and black.

Swimming pool complex

A large and elegantly designed swimming pool complex is one of the many assets of this stylish villa. It is spacious enough to host small parties. The loggia walls, studded with black slate slabs, got a trendy facelift in the hands of the architect.

It is decorated in a modish way with a dining set, reclining chairs and potted plants. The purists were right when they proclaimed that “Technique is only a tool, humbly at the service of the conception.”
