Geographically, Zaragoza lies on the river basin of the Ebro, Huerva and Gállego. Architecturally, the city turns out to be a confluence of as many design influences if not more. On one hand, you will see towering Gothic structures and magnificent baroque edifices. On the other hand, you will find majestic Islamic architecture with profound oriental influences adorning the cityscape.

The tiny Zaragoza apartment we will show you today is designed in Nordic style. This in itself is very much in sync with the city that revels in the multiple design influences from all corners of the globe. Let’s step inside and see what surprises it has in store for us…

Overview of the project

The renovation and subsequent redesigning of the space were planned by Zaragoza-based interior designer Noelia Villalba. It is only a small apartment of 52 square metres that needed comprehensive reformation and a functional layout for the future owners.

In the process, the internal walls have been demolished to open up the space a little bit. Insulation was added to the flooring and ceiling. White has been profusely used to brighten up the interior. Laminated flooring injects a sense of warmth into the small space that accommodates a living room, tiny kitchen and dining space.

Minimal dining space

The minimal dining space has been styled with a small round table and Charles and Ray Eames’ chairs.

There is no space for anything else and it has not been cluttered with unnecessary items of décor—the wall art is the only exception.

Dining and living room from a different angle

Except for the essential living room and dining room furniture, the small area is decorated with a modish dresser and TV cabinet. Both are meant to increase the amount of storage and help to declutter the home in a better way.

A modern area rug is also spread on the floor to give comfort to the tired feet and add a refined touch in the interiors .A cosy sofa with tufted back rest has been set in the corner space. It is decked up with cushions having geometric motifs. The sliding glass window, covered by a duo tone mesh curtain, allows splendid views of the historic city. It also helps to cheer up the interiors by allowing in sufficient amount natural light. The only other window of the room is located in the kitchen area.

Relaxing bedroom

The bedroom, with its peaceful ambience, looks like a dreamy space to be in. Courtesy of the presence of the laminated flooring, an nearly exclusively white interior feels charming.

Aside from the comfortable bed, the room is decorated with an elegant nightstand, stylish bedside table lamp and potted plants.

Home office

The other room currently acts as a home office. It is designed with a simple foldaway table, trendy chair and small storage unit. Double glazed aluminium windows with integrated shutters help to save some space in each of the rooms including this one.

Now you know how smart selections can transform the interiors in most spectacular fashion and minimalist design help to create a spacious looking interior for a 52 square metre apartment!

If you are thinking of renovating your small apartment you will be delighted to see the transformation of this little nest in a big city.
