A site is south slope in the residential area of Yokohama,Yamate. Extensive land with much green was left. Difference in height, heteromorphic site, forest in the south.

The request is three households houses consisting of an old  parent household (household 1) and two middle-aged child households (household 2,3).

The main requirements of the clients is 2 points. That each household that have been living separately can be living independently. It is a design that takes advantage of the features of the site.

At first we want to enjoy the green in the site. I put a building to the north side and assume it a long shape to the east and west. ― Sense of distance with tall trees and flat garden are secured to the maximum.

I let a building refract to a site shape.
― The view to the garden in all rooms is secured.

North side road surface is about one story higher than the site, high-rise apartment is on the opposite side across the road. High retaining wall = invisible load that the earth pressure. Lines of sight from the road, the lines of sight of looking down from the apartment. ― As mental protection, I put up a symbolic wall.
A strong presence earth wall of rough texture.

For independence as a wall, I cut the edge of the roof.
― Slit-like skylight over the wall length.

The slope of the shed roof is made to have a change in the wall of height, to concert with the slope gradient of the north side road. Common entrance of form that slid from the northeast corner of the main approaches to the bosom of the wall. ― I set the roof the reverse incline, to greet a coming person.

About three households placement we repeated the meeting with the clients by several new plan drawings.
To meet characteristics and requirements of each household ,at same time, to study of fumbling for the sense of distance. ― Child household's dining rooms are placed on the first floor of the east and west ends emphasizing the relationship between the garden. Parent household of elderly is placed on the center of second floor outing easy road level in a form that can be held in two child households.

Different households stacked up and down, and there is a high ground difference on the north side.
― As mixed structure, 1st floor is RC structure with excellent in robust and sound insulation,2nd floor is wooden structure with excellent livability.

Interior of the wooden roof that covers the three households is unifyed as reed-covered finish with exposed rather structure.
― The succession of the memory of the thatched hermitage (second house) which this family owned until this plan began. Common memory joins the three households together.
