Garden Designed By Contemporary Garden Designer Josh Ward Garden Design, London
This Contemporary Garden Design was commissioned in 2014
for a client in Caledonian Road, Central
London. The client wanted to transform her overgrown
jungle of a garden into a highly stylised Contemporary Garden that made
a statement.
The brief was to reflect the stylishly eclectic interior
in the garden and to redefine the whole
space into three distinct areas; to reflect
different moods, occasions and to track the moving
sunlight throughout the day.
Josh introduced an enticing runway path that draws the
clients from the main dining patio, through
two still contemporary Japanese ponds, past a
central reading area, with a rust finished bowl
planter focal point, and onwards to a raised
chill-out/cocktail area, at the rear of the garden. The
raised rear patio has bespoke Danish inspired
benches and table with Japanese inspired cedar screens
on either side to create a more intimate space.
There are quirky eclectic nods to different design
traditions throughout the garden and they are
brought together in a contemporary guise to
compliment the owners interior design.
The contemporary and somewhat architectural planting
scheme was devised to make a bold design
statement whilst leaning towards the unusual. It is a
very sensory space with heady wafts of honey
scents throughout the summer.
