What are the Pros of Hiring an Architect in Petaling Jaya?

The city of Petaling Jaya, was built as a satellite township of Kuala Lumpur, but developed into its own city center. It is in close proximity of the Kuala Lumpur. It would, therefore, be quite easy to hire architects from Petaling Jaya City, but also from Kuala Lumpur. The Petaling Jaya City architects would be very aware of the surroundings that would, or could influence the construction of buildings. This would be the most compelling motivation for you to hire an architect from this city.

6It is vital that you find the right architect for your project. The mere fact that you live in the city of Petaling Jaya is already an advantage, as there are a number of these professionals living in your city. The architects in Petaling Jaya City would be fully aware of the weather conditions in the city, and would be able to provide you with a structure to accommodate for that. As with most cities in Malaysia, the temperature in Petaling Jaya City is consistent. It is close to the equator, and there is very little variation in the temperature.

Hiring an architect in the city of Petaling Jaya would be able to give you a valuable advantage about design options. The architect would be able to give you advice on what kind of design would be specifically appropriate for a city that also has a very high humidity.

How much does it cost to build a house in Petaling Jaya?

One could assume that the cost of housing in the city of Petaling Jaya – in particular the construction of housing – could be similar to that of Kuala Lumpur, because of its close proximity. This includes the hiring of the architectural team that would include the contractors, as well as the subcontractors.

The difficulties facing the residents of Petaling Jaya City are again similar to the rest of Malaysia. Construction costs will rise, because of the result of the increase in the cost of building materials. This will increase the cost of building a home, but at the same time, it would also affect the rise in cost of purchasing a home.

This cost increase could also affect the land prices. Recent land prices cost RM 3,300 per square feet in the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). The suggestion is that this would make the cost of building in Petaling Jaya City expensive too. However, the land prices are cheaper to start with and this would make the housing cost cheaper.

What are the Restrictions for building in Petaling Jaya?

Wherever you build in Malaysia, you need to keep in mind that you need an approved plan before you can build a house. The architect of your choice will be in charge of that so you do not need to be concerned about it. This includes the hiring of a contractor, and subcontractor to complete the construction.

One of the latest restrictions in Petaling Jaya City, and other cities around it, is that foreigners have been restricted to purchasing only strata and landed strata properties only. Even though there is no mention restricting foreigners in the construction of housing, one should perhaps assume that the same applies to this category too.

Characteristics of Petaling Jaya City architecture?

Petaling Jaya City is part of Kuala Lumpur, but is a newer part of the city. It was first built as what is known as a satellite township. It later became a city in itself. This new city was built after the war, and the town planning took on a different shape. The idea was to mix social cultures; hence, the architecture took on a mix of semi-detached houses, bungalows, terrace houses, flats, and apartments.

There is no getting away from the fact that Malaysia is a very diverse cultural country. This is reflected in the cultural buildings that are present in most of the cities in Malaysia. Petaling Jaya City follows the same route – that is, of having a number of buildings that represent the variety of cultures. The Chinese culture, for example, is everywhere, and this is seen in the temples and other buildings they occupy. A particular temple to mention is the Wat Chetawan Thai Buddhist temple. It is a small structure, but beautifully adorned, and serves the Thai community.

The mixture of economic, and social cultures are seen in the rows of semi-detached houses where each occupant has a style of their own. The styling reflects the different cultures as well. This is particularly evident in the roofing styles of the housing. The city center does not have particularly extraordinary buildings, yet they are outstanding in their diverse styling. One building does have a very modern touch, and that is the Petaling Jaya City Council building. The buildings are not too high, but some of them do have a touch of colonial architecture. One of these is the Amcorp Mall & Business Centre. The Kota Darul Ehsan arch, stretching over the Federal Highway, has a typical Malaysian style to it. This is particularly evident in the arches, and the domes.
